The People’s Renaissance Movement (PM) has explained why its members wore masks after it was officially issued a full registration certificate by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
Speaking at a press briefing ahead of their planned unveiling at the ORPP, PM members revealed that their identities are currently hidden and will be revealed at the official launch.
“A movement will be born, a movement will be delivered—one that will liberate this country from the circles of dictatorship. These faces are hidden today because tomorrow we must unveil the real faces of Kenyans very early in the morning,” one member said.
“We shall remove these masks and we will tell you that Kenyans can actually take leadership on their hand.”
In a letter dated April 17, 2026, and referenced RPP/PROV/PM Vol IV (43), the Registrar of Political Parties confirmed that the party had met all the legal requirements under Section 7 (4) of the Political Parties Act, Cap. 7D.
“Pursuant to section 7 (4) of the Political Parties Act, Cap. 7D, the Registrar shall, within thirty days of an application, issue a certificate of full registration to a provisionally registered political party which has fulfilled the conditions of full registration,” the letter reads.
The office further directed the party to comply with Regulation 4(2) of the Political Parties (Registration) Regulations, 2019, which requires PM to surrender its provisional registration certificate, accompanied by a duly signed forwarding letter.
“In view of the foregoing, this Office hereby invites at least three PM founding members to the certificate issuance meeting to be held on 22nd April, 2026 at 9.00 a.m. at ORPP 4th Floor Boardroom,” the letter adds.

PM received its provisional registration certificate on January 15 from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
The interim officials and party founders were guided through the technical and legal requirements, including the recruitment of members, the establishment of functional offices, and the formation of governing organs as prescribed by law.
PM’s logo features a hummingbird in flight with red, blue, and white colours, accompanied by the slogan, “The change we need.”
According to its website, PM envisions a Kenya where all citizens enjoy equal opportunities, governance is transparent and accountable, and national resources serve the common good. The party aims to build a system that works for everyone, not a select few.
