The family of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, a taxi driver from Mombasa went missing a week ago has positively identified her body at Nairobi City Mortuary.
Earlier, Police had revealed fresh details in the incident involving Mumbua’s disappearance who went missing after accepting a ride request from a client.
Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had on Wednesday, October 2 evening stumbled on a human body believed to be that of the missing taxi driver.
Officers probing the disappearance said they discovered a human body believed to be that of Mumbua, at the Nairobi City Mortuary.
The female body was discovered at the city morgue after an intense grilling session with the main suspect in the case who was found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle belonging to the mother of three.
Criminal Intelligence and Research Bureau detectives who were profiling the suspect were behind the discovery.
Investigations revealed that the female body had been found in a thicket within Mai Mahiu next to a road in Lari, Kiambu County.
Following the discovery, police were notified, and the body was taken to the city morgue where it was booked on the 29th of September 2024, as unknown.
Police reveal details of suspect in missing taxi driver case
Detectives said that the suspect who was arrested in Nakuru county driving a motor vehicle belonging to Mumbua opened up to them after intense grilling before leading the sleuths to Lari where he had allegedly dumped the body.

The taxi driver’s family back in Mombasa was notified of the discovery, with the family members traveling to Nairobi to conduct further identification processes, among them DNA profiling.
This is as police plan for a postmortem examination to know the course of the death. The motive of the incident remains unknown for now.
Meanwhile, records have revealed that the suspect had committed similar offenses before the Mombasa based tax driver went missing on Friday, 27th September, after she accepted a ride request from Mombasa to Samburu.
The suspect who was found in possession of Victoria’s car was arrested on September 29 at Pipeline Junction along the Nakuru – Nairobi Highway while driving at a White Nissan Serena.

Following his arrest, the male suspect appeared before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Bildad Odhiambo. Police from Mombasa requested the court to hold him for 21 days to conclude their investigations, which the judge granted.

Reports had indicated that the 33-year-old was Mumbo’s last client where she had accepted a request after he booked a ride from Mombasa to Samburu in Kwale County.
