Mombasa taxi driver Victoria Mumbo who went missing is still missing despite earlier police reports indicating she had been found in Migori County.
Her family has come out to dismiss the police spokesperson report Resila Onyango who claimed she had been found unconscious near Uriri Dam in Migori County on Monday September 30.
“We have not found my aunt; the news that the bloggers were posting is fake news,” Mbithe Muigai, a relative of Mumbo, confirmed.
According to the family, someone who masqueraded as a police officer hoodwinked them into thinking that their kin had been found.

“Somebody called my aunt’s pastor in Mombasa on Monday, posing as a police officer, and demanded Ksh 20,000 from the pastor, claiming she had been found in critical condition in Migori and needed Ksh 20,000 to be airlifted to Mombasa,” Muigai further stated.
Muigai sent the said amount to the individual who had called them but after sending the money his phone went off.

“The phone went off. We have not heard from the guy ever since but there is Mpesa transaction information,” Muigai claimed.
So far one suspected has been apprehended in connection with Mumbo’s disappearance.
It is reported that Edwin Ng’etich was found in possession of Victoria’s car.
Ng’etich was arrested on Sunday September 29 at Pipeline Junction along the Nakuru Nairobi Highway while driving at a White Nissan Serena.
The suspect appeared before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Bildad Odhiambo. Mombasa police requested the court to hold him for 21 days to conclude their investigations, which the judge granted.
