President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta will Monday, November 28 share a platform in Nairobi to discuss the peace process.
The two leaders will be attending the official opening of the Third Inter-Congolese Consultations of the Nairobi Peace Process (Nairobi III).
The peace event will be held at the Safari Park Hotel.
Moreover, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye and Uhuru are expected to officiate the opening session of the event.
Nairobi III follows former President Uhuru’s official visit in his capacity as the Facilitator of the East African Community to Kinshasa and Goma, DRC, for the Mini-Summit on Peace and Security in the Eastern DRC.
Furthermore, this peace meeting will be the first time the duo shares a public platform after Ruto’s inauguration as the fifth President of Kenya.

Likewise, president Ruto during his maiden address as head of state in September announced that Uhuru had agreed to continue the mission of ensuring there is peace within the region.
“On peace initiative in our region, in Ethiopia and the Great Lakes region, I have asked my elder brother President Uhuru Kenyatta who has done commendable engagement with those regions, and he has graciously agreed to continue chairing those discussions on behalf of the Government of Kenya,” Ruto said.
Moreover, the meeting comes two days after the third batch of Kenyan troops was dispatched to DRC, joining their colleagues who went ahead two weeks under the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) to fight M23 rebels.
This move came after President Ruto ordered the deployment of soldiers from the KDF to join a regional peacekeeping mission.
