Prestigious Schools Attended by William Kabogo and Multi-Billion Properties He Owns

Cabinet Secretary for ICT, William Kabogo, recently went viral on social media due to his distinctive outfit—a white shirt, a red tie, khaki trousers, colourful socks, and safari boots—which sparked a wave of memes across various platforms.

Amused by the online reactions, Kabogo responded lightheartedly, stating, “I’m enjoying it. If no one makes such memes, you need to be very worried.”

Beyond the trending memes, this article takes a closer look at Kabogo’s educational background and the multi-billion-shilling property he owns.

Education Background of William Kabogo

William Kabogo was born on April 4, 1961, in Komothai village, Githunguri Constituency, Kiambu County.

The ICT CS attended St. George’s Ruiru Primary School and later continued his education at Thika Technical School from 1975 to 1978. He later earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from Punjab University, India, in 1982.

After returning to Kenya, the former Kiambu Governor worked as an auditor at the Auditor General’s office in the early 1980s.  

He later became the CEO of an international NGO and relocated to Mombasa, where he invested in transport, real estate, and clearing and forwarding businesses. He also served as Chief Executive Officer for Toto Industries before joining politics.

List of Properties Owned by Kabogo

During his vetting as CS, Kabogo revealed his net worth. While speaking before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Kabogo disclosed that his net worth stood at Ksh3.01 billion.

He clarified that his wealth comprises assets, real estate, pieces of land, and wealth accumulated over years.

“In residential houses, my total net worth is Ksh700 million, movable assets of about Ksh40 million, land and farm about Ksh756 million, cash and current assets of about Ksh64 million, interest and shares in companies approximately Ksh1.5 billion.

“A total of about Ksh3.01 billion,” said Kabogo.

The former Kiambu Governor owns the following multimillion-dollar property.

1. Iguta Paradise Homes, Runda, Kiambu Road.

Iguta Paradise Homes is a luxurious gated community located in Runda, Nairobi. The estate features 65 elegant 4-bedroom villas, each designed with modern amenities and comfort in mind.

Features include en-suite bedrooms, private gyms, home offices, Jacuzzis, saunas, and alarm systems.

2. Palatial Mansion near Windsor Resort, Kiambu. 

The former Kiambu Governor also owns a luxurious home near Windsor resort in Kiambu.  His palatial home has several swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, a helipad, a home bar, and glass walls with high-end interior decor.

3. Kabogo owns a 7.5-acre plot in Nairobi’s Westlands, valued at Ksh 3.5 billion, as claimed by Kabogo’s company, Caroget Investments Limited.

Political Career

William Kabogo began his political career in 2002 as the Member of Parliament for Juja Constituency. He served until 2007, when he lost to George Thuo.

He was later re-elected in 2010 in a by election and served his constituents until 2013. That same year, he became the first Governor of Kiambu County but lost his re-election bid in 2017.
