Christopher Wambua is the acting Director General at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) following the unprecedent suspension of Ezra Chiloba.
CA Board Chair Mary Wangui announced the leadership changes, without delving into the reasons behind the decision.
“Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice,” reads the memo in part.
Who is Christopher Wambua?
Wambua has 26 years of experience in the communications field.
He has served Communications Authority of Kenya for twenty-one years in various capacities.
Further, he served as the Assistant Public Relations Manager from July 2000 to December 2012 as his first job posting at CA.
In 2013, Wambua became a communications manager, a position he held for one year and four months.

In April 2014 Wambua took over the office of Multimedia Content and Innovation at CA as an Assistant Director.
He coordinated corporate communications, marketing communications, production of publicity matters media relations, internal communications, content management of the corporate website and social media accounts as well as management of the resource center.
He served this office for one year and six months.
Wambua rose higher to the position of A Director of Communications and Public Affairs, a position he served from 2015 up until his appointment as Acting General Director.
In 2021, the Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) appointed Wambua as its CEO, replacing Ezekiel Mutua.

Educational Background
Wambua holds a bachelor’s degree in education history and literature from Kenyatta university.
In addition, he has a Master of Arts in International Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi.
In 2011 to 2012 Wambua got a merit in Public Relations from Chartered Institute where he did a postgraduate Diploma.
