Protus Wechuli Sifuna, a chief from Saboti in Trans Nzoia County, who gained widespread popularity for his humorous and down-to-earth approach to community matters with the viral phrase ‘misheveve’ has retired. The administrator retired after over ten years of service.

Chief Protus Wechuli, celebrated for his unique and humorous problem-solving approach, has captured the attention of both his constituents and Kenyans on social media.

Wechuli became well-known through viral videos, with the most notable one where he recounted an incident where a man allegedly killed his father over a dispute about vegetables.

He enjoys using the phrases “karibu mno mno” and “asante mno mno,” which loosely translate to “thank you so much” and “welcome so much,” respectively.

The video, which featured his unique “misheveve” phrase, has endeared him to audiences seeking both laughter and local insight.

Origin of the ‘Misheveve’ Name

In his now-viral video, Wechuli humorously narrates how a young man quarrels with his mother over the vegetables she cooked, which he did not prefer.

In his witty description of the event, he stated:

“He (the young man) asked his mother what type of vegetables she had cooked, and she said she had made Misheveve (pumpkin vegetables). The young man said he didn’t want that, he wanted sarati (vegetable similar to Sukuma wiki) then started beating the mum.”

“When his father heard the noise, he came to rescue his mother. The young man hit the father with a kiti moto (seat using by women when cooking in Western Kenya) and started chewing his father’s fingers like omena (fingerlings)…little did we know that he was subtracting his father’s life (killing his father),” he said hilariously.

This left viewers in stitches with the incident earning him the nickname “Chief Wa Misheveve.”

TikTok users have since jumped on the “Misheveve vs Sarati” challenge, sparking a wave of creative content and even inspiring a song.

In another memorable event, Chief Wechuli introduced the county’s Agriculture Minister, Phanice Khatundi, to his signature comedic style.

He joked, “Our nerve of Trans Nzoia, the nerve is here. Without scratching the hair or feet, let me welcome our agriculture minister, Phanice Khatundi. Doesn’t she look like she bathes using Fanta soda? Prepare warm Kabuchai claps.”

The audience couldn’t contain their laughter. In an interview, he described Khatundi as a “shining star” and referred to the Kabuchai claps as “claps of happiness.”

Chief’s Hilarious Comments on SHA
