The Public Service Commission of Kenya (PSC) has announced the cancellation of jobs it had earlier advertised.
PSC made the announcement through a notice dated November 21, 2024, and went ahead to specify the cancelled positions. The positions had been advertised on April 23, 2024.
Cancelled positions
“The Public Service Commission of Kenya, guided by its vision of creating a citizen-centric public service and its mission to reform and transform service delivery, has announced the cancellation of several advertised positions,” read the notice in part.
Some of the cancelled roles include Deputy Commission Secretaries in Human Resource Management and Development Services, Recruitment and Selection Services and Compliance, and Performance Management Services.

PSC had also advertised for the position of Organization Design and Career Management Services, Deputy Commission Secretary and legal services.
This decision was officially communicated by the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Commission.
Principal Secretary vacancy
Recently, the commissions advertised for a position of Principal Secretary. In a notice dated November 19, 2024, called for qualified people to apply and went ahead to lay down the procedure of doing so.
“Pursuant to this constitutional provision, the Public Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for the position of Principal Secretary,” read the notice.

Following the advertisement of this position PSC CEO Paul Ofamba later clarified that the appointment of the qualified candidate was meant to fill the position of one Principal Secretary in the State Department of Performance and Delivery Management.
The position was initially occupied by Veronica Mueni Nduva who moved to the East African Community (EAC) as the Secretary General.
Some of the qualifications for being a Permanent Secretary, according to PSC is that one must be a be a citizen of Kenya, they should have a degree from a recognized university in Kenya and have at least ten years relevant professional experience, five years of which should have been in a leadership position or at a top management level in the public service or private sector.
