Azimio La Umoja Presidential Aspirant Raila Odinga gave his first public address since August 9 polls during a church service.
The Azimio leader preached peace on Sunday, August 14, at the ACK St. Francis Church in Karen where he attended the church service.
Moreover, Mr Odinga lauded Kenyans for peaceful campaigns and elections.
“We thank God for having taken us through a vigorous campaign moment. The election process was peaceful, we hope that peace will prevail even after the election,” he said.
“We are all part of one nation and we want Kenya to be even stronger going forward,” Raila added.
Likewise, the former prime minister quoted a message on peace from St. Francis of Assisi, a celebrated Italian Catholic Friar, in his message to the congregation and the nation.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith….that is what St.Francis of Assisi said at that time,” Raila explained.
Similarly, the Azimio leader stated that, the same words apply to the current situation in Kenya.
“This is what me as a person want to see happen, that I become an instrument to bring peace, to heal to unite and keep the hope alive,” he added.

In addition, Odinga expressed hope as the deadline for the announcement of the results draw closer.
According to Raila, a victory for Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya, is comparable to the Israelites’ biblical journey from Egypt to Canaan.
“We in the Azimio La Umoja said we want to take our people across River Jordan, to Canaan, we hope we will be able to enjoy life in Canaan, Peace and prosperity can only be found in Canaan” Raila said.
Nevertheless, the Azimio leader was joined in church by his deputy Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Kitui Senator Enock Wambua, and COTU boss Francis Atwoli.
