In a statement, the head of state noted that he had a phone conversation with Netanyahu and discussed with him the dire situation in Gaza adding that the loss of lives had reached unacceptable levels.
Further, Ruto advocated for an immediate end to conflict in Gaza, asking the two nations to come to a peaceful solution.
He noted that the two states, Israel and Palestine, could live peacefully side by side. Ruto stated that Kenya was not in support of any form of terrorism.
“I have had a telephone engagement with Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel. I have expressed Kenya’s concerns over the deteriorating situation in Gaza where loss of lives has reached unacceptable levels.
“I underscored Kenya’s belief in a two-state solution that would allow a peaceful side-by-side existence of the states of Israel and Palestine. I am hopeful of an immediate end to the conflict in Gaza. Kenya abhors all forms of terrorism, and it is our principled position that they must be eradicated,” stated Ruto.

Ruto Previous Stance on Israel- Palestine War
Earlier on October 8, the head of state issued a statement condemning Hamas for its incursion into Israel, stating that it was an act of terrorism.
Ruto affirmed his support for Israel explaining that its nationals were being attacked without any justification, and that was a threat to the peace of the international community.
He went on to ask the warring parties to work towards de-escalating their hostilities and instead consider a peaceful resolution of their differences.
“The international community must mobilize to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, sponsors, supporters and enablers of these reprehensible criminal acts of terrorism to account and speedily bring them to justice,” the President noted.

South Africa Vs Israel
This comes days after South Africa won a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) after suing the country for genocide.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) then ordered Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent its troops from committing genocide and take steps to improve the humanitarian situation of Palestinians in Gaza.
South Africa then asked all states to stop funding and facilitating Israel’s military actions in Gaza. The decision made by the ICJ received mixed reactions from different nations across the world.
