President William Ruto, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi have been allocated Sh802.2 million to buy new motor vehicles in the new financial year.
The allocation is eight times higher compared to the 2022/2023 budget estimated which had allocated Sh100.8 million to the Office of the President and his Deputy.
DP Gachagua has been allocated Sh290.8 million for new vehicles, an increase from Sh90.8 million that had previously been allocated by former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.
In the 2023/2024 financial year, the government will spend some Sh2.06 billion to purchase vehicles for State bodies up from Sh810.3 million in the 2022/2023 budget allocation.

Ruto, Gachagua and Mudavadi will take upto 40% of the total budget allocated to government bodies for the purchase of new motor vehicles.
The Office of Inspector General of Police has been allocated Sh574 million for new police cars.
Cabinet Secretaries have been allocated an additional Sh154 million for new cars.
At the same time, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has been allocated Sh140 million for a fleet of cars in his retirement.
State House Nairobi, which had initially been allocated only Sh10 million, was added Sh35 million in the latest changes.
