Additionally, he revealed that South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol pledged to give his government Ksh40 billion to support the creative economy in Kenya.
“They have given us Ksh40 billion for the youth in the creative economy. That is the money I am going for so that we can support our youth in that sector. You saw I visited one of the largest creative economy hubs in America, and we want to build their match here in Kenya,” Ruto said.

Ruto Announces Jobs for Kenyans in South Korea
Ruto further stated that the visit aims to expand Kenya’s agricultural exports and create job opportunities for Kenyans in South Korea.
According to the president, plans are already underway to create jobs for Kenyans abroad through a labor export program.
“We also agreed that we will expand our agricultural sector and seek employment opportunities and start planning the export of labor so that our youth can get jobs in Korea. We are going to sign the agreement so that close to 10,000 Kenyans can start working in Korea and bring back revenue to build the economy,” Ruto said.
The head of state further emphasized the importance of his visit to South Korea and asked for Kenyans’ support, noting that they would benefit from it.
He also mentioned that the Korean government will support the construction of dams in Kenya’s dry counties to facilitate access to water.
“We agreed that there are many areas in Kenya without enough water, and they will give us Ksh25 billion to construct dams and for irrigation. Allow me to go and do that work; it will benefit you and other Kenyans as well,” he said.

Ruto Tells MPs to Travel Around the Country
Additionally, Ruto asked the Members of Parliament (MPs) to prioritize traveling across the country to understand the problems affecting all Kenyans.
He explained that MPs have three roles: representing their respective constituencies, and engaging in legislation and oversight, which involve the whole country.
“Representation is about your constituency, but the other two—oversight and legislation—are not about your constituency. MPs, you should know that you have a duty to your constituency through representation, but you also have a duty to the nation because of your legislative assignment and oversight responsibility,” he said.

Ruto emphasized that Parliament is not a village assembly but the national assembly of Kenya, hence the need to stand for the whole nation.
He stated that an MP cannot legislate and oversee effectively without touring different counties and understanding their needs.
“You have to get out of your constituency, go to other places, and understand Kenya so that when you legislate in parliament, you understand your country. I want to encourage MPs to represent their constituents effectively, but also move around Kenya so that you can better understand and discharge your responsibilities of oversight and legislation equally for all the people of Kenya,” Ruto said.
