Safaricom customers continue to report frustration over constantly changing data bundle options, particularly the popular B-Live time-based packages that now include a compulsory contribution to the company’s Ziidi investment product.
Many users say the offers they see when dialing *544#, *555# or *444# change frequently, sometimes within minutes.
The current version of one widely discussed package costs Ksh25 and provides one hour of browsing, 10 bonus minutes of talk time, and a Ksh1 deposit into Ziidi.
Safaricom’s official terms confirm the structure.
According to Safaricom’s Terms and Conditions for the B-Live Extra 2.0 Service, published on the company’s website in July 2026, the Ksh25 offer is listed as “1hr Browsing + Shs.1 Ziidi + Free 10 Minutes.”
Higher-priced options in the same promotion also include larger Ziidi amounts, ranging from Ksh2 to Ksh15 depending on the package.
What the Safaricom Package Actually Delivers
The Ksh1 is not a fee.
It is automatically transferred into the customer’s Ziidi Money Market Fund account if they already have one or after they complete the required opt-in.

Ziidi is Safaricom’s regulated investment product that places money into short-term instruments such as Treasury bills and earns daily returns.
Safaricom Care has publicly confirmed the current offer.
“We recently refreshed our bundle portfolio to offer more value. For B-LIVE, Ksh 25 now gives you 1 hour + 10 minutes + Ksh 1 on Ziidi, available daily between 11:00 PM and 4:00 PM,” the company posted on X on August 4, 2026.
Customers have complained that the frequent changes make it hard to rely on specific packages, especially for those who travel or need predictable short-term data.
According to Mwabili Godi, an X user, pure data options without the Ziidi element have become harder to find.
“I am traveling again, and I am left at the mercy of Safaricom. The data package options are extremely erratic, and they change every minute. Is this legal by the way? I don’t want this Ziidi thing. I have no idea what it is,” he stated.
Others object to the automatic inclusion of the investment product when they only want internet access.
One common complaint is that the menu options appear and disappear without clear notice, leaving buyers uncertain about what they will receive when they next dial the USSD codes.
Safaricom Position
Safaricom presents the changes as an effort to give customers more value.

The official terms describe the B-Live Extra 2.0 service as one that allows subscribers “to browse and enjoy a worry-free experience” while including minutes, Ziidi services and free content on the Baze platform.
The company has not issued a detailed public explanation for why the same packages appear inconsistently across different customers or times of day.
Customers can access the packages through the usual USSD codes or the My OneApp. Payment for the Ziidi-linked versions must be made via M-PESA.
The terms state that only one offer can be purchased at a time and that the bundles cannot be shared or extended.
Ziidi itself remains a separate product.
According to Safaricom’s official Ziidi frequently asked questions page, the minimum investment is normally Ksh100, interest is calculated daily, and funds can be withdrawn back to M-PESA.
The small Sh1 amounts included in the data packages are treated as deposits into this fund.
The B-Live Extra 2.0 promotion began on 3 July 2026.
Safaricom continues to update the available offers without fixed advance notice to customers.
