Safaricom PLC has announced an offer for all M-PESA customers as it marks its 24th anniversary in Kenya.
In a statement, the telecommunication company said customers will get a refund of transaction fees for their first send-money transaction on Wednesday, October 23.

Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa Said the transaction cost would be deducted but refunded after the transaction.
“Asante kwa miaka 24. Safaricom will refund the transaction fee for your first M-PESA send money transaction of the day,” Safaricom said.

Ndegwa thanked customers for their continued support since the company was launched in Kenya.
He explained that Safaricom has grown into an unimaginable organization in Kenya due to the support from the customers.

“As Safaricom marks 24 years of connecting Kenyans, I want to take a moment to thank you, our loyal customers, for making us part of your lives,” he said.
“Because of you, we have grown from a telco to a cornerstone of innovation, empowerment, and progress in Kenya. Your trust and unwavering support have inspired us every step of the way.”

He added that the company is co-creating a future full of possibilities and remains committed to walking the journey with the Kenyan customers.
Ndegwa said the Safaricom will keep innovating, growing, and being the partner that customers reach their dreams.
Additionally, the company said customers will enjoy a 25% off the Business Fibre 50mbps package for the first month.
The telecommunication company said customers can dial *485# to sign up.

Safaricom Journey in Kenya
Safaricom launched the Kipokezi service in May 2,000 that enabled its subscribers to send and receive email and online chat through standard mobile phones.
On October 23, 2000, Safaricom made an official launch into the Kenyan market.
It was all systems go with a new brand, a new slogan ‘The Better Option’ and a new connection fee – just Kshs2,500 for the Safaricom line.
In December 2000, Safaricom hit 100,000 subscribers within its first year as Kenyans began to use mobile phones.

The 0722 prefix was launched in February 2001, becoming the first of many as it continued to grow.
This was also the first Safaricom Corporate Bond.
In the same month, Safaricom became the first operator to introduce per-second billing in the market.
Over the course of the year, all of Kenya’s major towns came ‘on-net’ and Safaricom’s subscriber numbers reached the 300,000 mark.
In December 2001, Safaricom had its first national consumer promotion where a few subscribers won a brand-new Volkswagen Beetle.
