Netflix has lowered its monthly subscription charges for Kenya and the greater Sub-Saharan Africa, saying its goal is ensuring its customers have better value for their money.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company announced that its mobile plan would cost Sh200, a reduction from Sh300, whereas its basic plan would cost Sh300, a reduction from Sh700.The standard plan subscribers will pay Sh700, a reduction from Sh1,100, while their premium plan counterparts will pay Sh1,100, a reduction from Sh1,450.

For the Sub-Saharan region, the mobile plan will cost $2.99, a reduction from $3.99, whereas the basic plan will cost $3.99, a reduction from $7.99. For the standard plan, the subscribers will pay $7.99, a reduction from $9.99, while for the premium plan they will pay $9.99, a reduction from $11.99.
According to Netflix, the price cuts are effective February 21, 8am and new subscribers who sign up will see the new prices immediately. This is good news to the subscribers as Netflix had earlier announced a crackdown on password sharing. Specifically sharing passwords with those not living under one roof.
“Our goal is simple: to offer a wide variety of quality shows and films, curated for you,” read part of the statement.
