A Tanzanian Club, Tabora United FC, on Monday, October 21 fired a Kenyan Coach after serving the club for a few months. In a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer, Christina Mwagala, Francis Kimanzi’s contract was terminated due to the team’s underwhelming performance.
“Tabora United FC team management would like to inform the public that it has reached an agreement on both sides to terminate the agreement between the former head coach Francis Kimanzi and his assistant Yusuph Chipo starting today October 21.

The reasons for terminating this agreement are due to the unsatisfactory performance of the results that the Team has been getting,” part of the statement read.
Kimanzi fired by Tabora FC
At the same time, the Tabora FC management thanked Kimanzi and his assistant for their services at the club and wished them the best in their lives outside the club.

In the last five matches, Kimanzi’s team had 1 win, 2 draws, and 2 losses.
Kimanzi’s last game as manager was against JKT Tanzania where his team lost 4 -2 .

Kimanzi joined the Tanzanian club in the month of August for their 2024- 2025 season for a one-year deal after he departed from Mathare United Club.

The former Harambee Stars tactician joined Mathare United in 2008 and led the club to its first league title that same year.
Kimanzi served as the club’s manager three times: from 2008 to 2013, then again from 2015 to 2019.
Previous teams coached by Francis
He later returned to the club after it was relegated to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Super League (NSL) and helped them secure promotion to the FKF Premier League.
Additionally, he coached Tusker FC from 2013 to 2015. During his tenure, he won the DStv SuperSportsCup in December 2013 against Gor Mahia FC.
Moreover, Kimanzi has also coached Wazito FC where he served as their tactician from 2020 to 2022.
Francis Appointed as Harambee Stars Coach
Kimanzi at one particular time coached the Harambee Stars National Team.
He was officially appointed as the full-time manager of Kenya’s national football team on December 11, 2008, after serving in a caretaker role since May of that year.
However, following the 2008 CECAFA Cup, he was dismissed from his position in January 2009 due to conflicts with Kenyan football administrators.
He has also served as an assistant coach of the football national team under Coach Sébastien Migné.
