Tatu City to Establish a Ksh342 Million Wildlife Sanctuary
According to a recent Business Daily report, the project is estimated to cost Ksh342 million and will cover 60 hectares of land.
This development signals an expansion of the project’s environmental footprint within the 5,000-acre special economic zone in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
The project’s management has indicated that the sanctuary will be developed in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
The move is aimed at aligning the initiative with national conservation guidelines while seamlessly integrating it into the city’s urban design.
The proposed facility is expected to host a range of herbivore species, creating a natural buffer within an area that has experienced rapid industrial and residential expansion.
According to the developers, the sanctuary will be open to both residents and visitors and will serve as a green space for the growing population living and working in the development.
KWS will oversee the translocation of animals to the site and conduct continuous monitoring of their health and population levels.
