The Wiper Patriotic Front has dismissed reports claiming that party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka secretly met President William Ruto at State House ahead of the President’s national address.
In a statement on July 30, the party dismissed speculation linking Kalonzo to President William Ruto, insisting he remains committed to the United Alternative coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The statement follows the circulation of social media posts and videos alleging that Kalonzo had visited State House to negotiate a political deal with the Head of State, with claims suggesting he was positioning himself to become Ruto’s running mate.
Wiper Dismisses Viral Claims
Wiper said it had noted with concern what it described as a wave of misinformation, personal attacks and politically motivated propaganda targeting its party leader.
According to the party, the claims are intended to undermine Kalonzo’s credibility while diverting attention from the country’s economic, social and governance challenges.
“The Wiper Patriotic Front has noted with concern the recent wave of misinformation, personal attacks and politically charged propaganda directed at our Party Leader, H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. These sustained attacks are intended to diminish his credibility and distract Kenyans from the pressing economic, social and governance challenges confronting our nation,” the statement reads.
The party defended Musyoka’s political record, saying his years in public service have been defined by integrity, patriotism and a commitment to democracy and good governance.

It said attempts to distort his record through misinformation would not succeed.
Wiper also rejected claims that Kalonzo has little to show for his years in public office, saying his contributions to national cohesion, conflict resolution, constitutional reforms and Kenya’s international standing are well documented.
According to the party, Kalonzo has consistently placed the interests of the nation above personal ambition and earned the respect of millions of Kenyans.
Wiper Insists Kalonzo Remains in Opposition
On the speculation that the party leader could be joining the Kenya Kwanza administration, Wiper insisted that its leader remains committed to the United Alternative coalition.
“The Wiper Patriotic Front further reiterates that H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka remains firmly committed as a Principal of the United Alternative Government,” stated the party.
The party said Kalonzo continues to work closely with fellow coalition principals through consultation, mutual respect, and a shared vision of building credible, inclusive, and united leadership capable of offering Kenyans a better future.
It added that the coalition’s strength lies in collective leadership rather than individual ambition and remains anchored in constitutionalism, accountability, economic justice, and national unity.

Old Video Shared Out of Context
The viral claims were accompanied by a video showing Kalonzo walking on a red carpet and interacting with leaders in State House, which made social media users believe he had recently met President Ruto.
However, the footage is not recent.
A spot check by The Kenya Times found that the video was recorded in 2023 during the handover of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) Report, an event attended by President Ruto, Kalonzo and other leaders from both the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions following bipartisan talks.
The old footage has since been recirculated with misleading captions claiming it shows a recent meeting between Kalonzo and the President ahead of the national address and the 2027 General Election.
Wiper maintains that the claims are false and that no such meeting took place.
