A photo of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has gone viral, igniting speculations among Kenyans.
The image shows Waititu at a hair transplant clinic, appearing relaxed and healthy, raising eyebrows since he is supposed to be serving a jail term.
Many citizens took to social media demanding answers: Is Waititu truly in prison, or is he enjoying privileges beyond the reach of ordinary inmates?
The photo, showing Waititu at the Artistic Hair Transplant Center, was originally taken on March 26, 2024, and shared on Instagram at the time.
However, it resurfaced on July 20, 2025, after the clinic reposted it on their official Facebook page.
Speaking to the clinic, Grace, a staff member, confirmed, “That is a photo of one year ago and what we posted yesterday is just focusing on the results of the hair transplant. Maybe God wanted Artistic to trend.”
“We don’t follow up where the client goes after the procedure. He came to our clinic before he was jailed.”

Governor Ferdinand Waititu Jailed
Waititu was sentenced to prison after being convicted on corruption charges relating to the Ksh588 million road tender.
Millimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki on Thursday, February 13 sentenced Waititu to twelve years in jail or a fine of Ksh53.5 million.

He faced allegations of irregularly awarding tenders worth over Ksh 588 million to companies linked to his family and close associates.
Investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) revealed that Waititu had used his office to channel county funds for personal gain, including purchasing prime properties in Nairobi and Ruiru.
The court also found that Waititu attempted to obstruct investigations and had flouted multiple court orders during the legal proceedings.
In one instance, he ignored a court summons and instead made public appearances dismissing the charges as political persecution.
The court finally ruled that his conduct was not only unlawful but demonstrated contempt for public accountability.
