The rift in the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is not over just yet.
In a new twist, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa on Monday, October 9, threatened to eject the Party’s Secretary General Cleophas Malala over what he called disrespect towards Kenya Kwanza’s leadership.
In a presser at Parliament Buildings, Barasa accused Malala of being unfit to handle the role of a Secretary General.
According to him, the former Senator has failed to demonstrate the ability to match Edwin Sifuna, the Secretary General of UDA’s rival party the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Further, Barasa noted that Malala had opted to attack Kenya Kwanza’s affiliated parties and principles instead of articulating UDA’s agenda.
“His words have gone unchallenged. He is unable to engage Sifuna who is his equal,” Barasa stated.
Further, the MP urged UDA’s National Executive Council to change the party’s leadership failure to which he would mobilize for the ejection of Malala from the Hustler Plaza.
Additionally, Barasa accused Malala of being an ODM agent installed to “wreck the party from within”.

Barasa also warned the UDA Secretary General against interfering with the politics of Bungoma County noting that the county’s constituents are “unforgiving”.
“The people of Bungoma are very unforgiving to individuals who show them contempt,” he added.
Malala’s Move to Consolidate UDA
Barasa’s remarks came a day after Malala attended a function in Bungoma County.
In his address, the former Kakamega Senator emphasized the need to prioritize politics of development that will improve the lives of people in the region.

Malala has been accused of disrespecting National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi in his call for dissolution of Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties.
On several occasions, the former Senator maintained that all parties would dissolve to form one strong party with a national outlook.
However, President William Ruto assured that no party would be forced to dissolve to contradict his Secretary General.
In his role as the party’s Secretary General, Malala has made inroads in the counties in the former Western Province in a bid to popularize it.
Further, his close ties with former Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati have sparked speculations of a plot to influence the outcome of the Bungoma gubernatorial race in 2027.
