The Wamunyoro Residence, a previously unknown address has swiftly become more than just a home for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua; it is now a vibrant hub of political, religious, and social influence.
Since his ouster, the residence, brimming with activity, has played host to a diverse range of leaders across various sectors from political figures to religious leaders, elders and old political buddies.

Wamunyoro has emerged as a meeting point where Gachagua meets dignitaries, plans his next move, welcomes defectors, issues directives, and sketches out his political roadmap.
Some of the politicians the former second in command has met include aspirants eyeing various elective seats across Mt Kenya.

Gachagua’s New Nerve Centre Grips National Limelight
Even at the height of the 2022 presidential campaigns, Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence did not receive the same level of focus and national limelight it enjoys today.
Analysts argue that Gachagua’s decision to make the residence the focal point of his 2027 political meetings may be motivated by the desire to operate away from the surveillance and attention of state operatives.
Other political observers suggest that Gachagua’s approach to the 2027 race is not necessarily about securing a victory for himself but rather about orchestrating a scenario where President Ruto faces a significant defeat.
Gachagua has vowed to ensure that politicians from the region who were mobilized to impeach him will face the consequences of their actions at the ballot in 2027.
“The people of Mt Kenya region do not forgive betrayal and those who have gone against their will have a date with destiny in 2027,” he said at a past church service.
On February 7 he hosted the Kiambu Jubilee Leadership led by former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, Joe Kigara (Minority Leader Kiambu County Assembly) and Lucy Wanjiku (Nominated MCA Kiambu County).
On the same day, Gachagua met former water CS Sicily Kariuki, who served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
Almost every day, the former DP shares photos of yet another contingent which came calling.
As has now become tradition, Gachagua enjoys hosting his guests outdoors.
He often gathers them in a circular setting within his expansive green compound, where they sit on patterned wingback chairs and cluster around him.
A Look Inside Wamunyoro Residence
At the entrance of the compound is a striking blue gate, standing out against the greenery.
The compound is surrounded by lush greenery, including tall Palm trees and pine trees and well-maintained leafy shrubs.
The trees stand proudly, their fronds swaying gently in the breeze, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Some are scattered along the perimeter of the compound.

The large expanse of vibrant green grass covers most of the area, and the grass appears neatly trimmed.
In the background, a hedge lines the space, while a lamp posts with three and five spherical lights stands tall.
Bird sculptures are positioned near the edge of the lawn. One depicts an eagle in mid-flight with its wings spread wide, while another one shows a peacock staring at the environment.
In the photos, the former DP’s compound is characterized by a distinctive pavement, made up of red and gray circular tiles arranged in an intricate pattern.
The carefully laid tiles not only add to the elegance of the area but also create a sense of symmetry that complements the overall design of the compound.
A Blend of Craftsmanship and Comfort
At the entrance, a decorative gate stands out with its ornate arch above, drawing attention with its detailed craftsmanship.
The gate features intricate patterns and designs surrounded by lush landscape of greenery, including mature trees and dense foliage.
The compound also features two wooden gazebos, each with seats inside, providing a shaded space perfect for relaxation or informal gatherings.
At times, meetings are held inside his house, where handwoven, curved Maasai chairs without arms are arranged facing a dining table, with Gachagua sitting at the center point.
On other occasions, the normal seating arrangement is used. The room is lit by a vintage chandelier with bronze cherubs, with others mounted on the white-painted wall.
