Deputy President (DP) Kithure Kindiki has intensified efforts to challenge his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, for control of the Mt. Kenya region.
Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri has been a beehive of activities in recent days.
He has been meeting leaders from various parts of the region and Rift Valley since his impeachment.
Kindiki appears to have intensified efforts to diminish Gachagua’s dominance and unite the region under his leadership.
The DP held a consultative meeting with a section of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Murang’a County.
Kindiki said the meeting was to deliberate on priority development programmes and projects.
Among the MPs who attended the meeting were Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Betty Maina (Woman Representative, Murang’a), Dr. Edwin Mugo (Mathioya) and Veronica Maina (Nominated Senator).
