A watchman lost his life after being stabbed while trying to intervene in a fight involving partygoers at a nightclub in Siaya town on Saturday August 10 night.
The 30-year-old victim identified as Ben Peter succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Siaya County Referral Hospital where he was rushed following the incident.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident occurred around 1:30 AM at Kitu Moto Resort and Night Club.
The suspect, 35-year-old Brian Otieno Ogola was reportedly out partying with friends at the aforementioned nightclub when a dispute suddenly arose between them.
Upon witnessing the ensuing chaos the night guard, sought to intervene and bring a calm resolution to the dispute.
It was then that Ogola reportedly drew a knife and preceded to stab the security guard twice in the chest with a knife.
Siaya County Police Commander Reports on the Incident
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo reported that the incident was brought to the attention of authorities by one Michael Mugola, a resident of the area who noted a commotion near the Administration police canteen next to Kitu Moto night club.
Police responded to the scene, where they reportedly found the perpetrator, 35-year-old Brian Otieno Ogola being assaulted after the alleged stabbing of the watchman.

In response to the chaos, police fired six rounds into the air to disperse the crowd and managed to rescue Ogola, who was taken to the hospital with multiple head injuries.
The police commander disclosed that the scene was cleared and processed where a blood-stained knife was recovered as evidence.
Additionally, he confirmed that deceased watchman’s body was moved to the Siaya County referral hospital morgue for preservation pending autopsy.
Meanwhile, Ogola, the prime suspect in the murder incident remains hospitalized following the beating by locals, under police guard and will face murder charges once discharged.
Similar Incident of Attack of a Security Personnel
This incident follows a similar one in Siaya where an assistant chief was hospitalized following brutally attack by locals while trying to shut down a loud funeral vigil ‘Disco Matanga’ in Alego Usonga sub-county.
According to a police report, the chief had gone to investigate complaints about loud music coming from a home in Nyalugunga ‘A’ village where a bereaved family was holding an overnight wake.

When the chief arrived and attempted to turn off the loudspeakers, he was surrounded by a mob of young men wielding machetes and other weapons.
According to the report the angry youth then proceeded to savagely beat the chief leaving him clinging to life.
Fortunately, the quick-thinking mourners present at the vigil intervened and were able to rescue the injured administrator.
He was rushed to Siaya County Referral Hospital where it was established that he had sustained severe injuries to his head and was in an unstable condition.
