UPDATE: The investigation into the brutal murder of former Wells Fargo Human Resources manager Willis Ayieko has taken a fresh twist following the arrest of another suspect.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a statement on November 5 said that detectives made an additional arrest in the ongoing investigation, with the suspect apprehended in Kisumu.

According to DCI, the male suspect is believed to have played a significant role in the events preceding this tragic incident.

Omondi, a motorcycle rider, is alleged to have provided transport for Victor Ouma, also known as Sisco, to the location where Onyango was abducted. Victor Ouma Okoth is currently in police custody and has been linked to the crime, alongside his deceased brother, Robert Wakolo Okoth, as well as other yet-to-be-identified individuals,” said DCI in the statement.

This as DCI actively pursues several leads to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding Onyango’s murder.

Last week, DCI confirmed that another male suspect connected to the case was killed on Thursday, October 31.

The suspect who had escaped a police shootout on Tuesday night was shot dead by police in Kisumu after he was found at a guest house within the lakeside city. This as detectives continue to pursue more suspects.

Nyanza Regional Police Commander Patrick Tito said that the suspect was shot after he cocked a pistol and took aim at the officers, prompting them to open fire.

Police believe that the suspect is part of a carjacking ring whose two members were arrested on Tuesday.

Earlier, DCI had in a statement confirmed the death of another suspect who had been arrested following the Tuesday night shootout.

DCI revealed that the female suspect had suffered gunshot wounds in the altercation with officers along the Siaya-Luanda Road.

This came as detectives launched a man hunt for a gang of seven members believed to be behind the brutal murder of the former the Wells Fargo Human Resources manager and other carjacking incidents in the area.

Currently, police have three suspects in custody, one of them a woman arrested at a hideout in Siaya.

The other suspect identified as Victor Okoth Ouma was arrested in Nairobi’s Dandora estate and arraigned in Siaya where investigators were granted 21 days to detain him as part of their probe.

Investigators launched the Tuesday night operation after Ouma informed them about the whereabouts of his accomplices, leading to the arrest of two more suspects.

However, a fierce gun battle ensued with two male suspects escaping with gunshot wounds

Police said a woman who was part of the gang was left at the scene injured and arrested but unfortunately succumbed later.

Investigators added that a Ceska pistol belonging to the late Willis Ayieko was recovered from the vehicle.

Another woman was also arrested during the operation with police managing to recover several exhibits among them police and military garments.

“We were able to recover a firearm that was robbed off from the deceased. the investigation is still at his infant stage, and we may not be able to conclusively say that this was the motive,” said the DCI.

He is also said to have made transactions using Ayieko’s mobile phone.

The Siaya High Court judge while granting police 21 days to hold the suspect, said that the offense he is accused of committing has a potential of life imprisonment.

“That the offense alleged to have been committed is a serious one and if the state proves at the trial, it has a potential of committing the respondent to life imprisonment in accordance with the case of Muruatetu,” said the judge.

An autopsy on Willis Ayieko’s body revealed the Wells Fargo HR manager died due to injuries on his head caused by blunt force trauma.

Willis went missing after attending a burial in Siaya and with his body later being discovered at a river on the border of Siaya and Kakamega counties.

Meanwhile, homicide detectives investigating the murder of three women in is Eastleigh have documented the motor vehicle used in abducting and disposing the bodies of the victims.
