The prime suspect in the murder of the former Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo will be detained for 21 days after an application before Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul.
The suspect, 16, was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi on Wednesday, September 27.

Making an application before the court, the investigators handling the case requested for more time to further process the suspect.
In particular, the investigators requested for more time to assess injuries believed to have been sustained when the suspect was escaping from Maigo’s home.

Subsequently, the investigators will hand over the case to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to further advise on the next step.
Additionally, the detectives were working to unearth any other persons of interest in case.

Sleuths nab teenage suspect
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, September 26, in Nairobi’s Kibera Slums after an anonymous tip off days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations established her identity.

Excerpts from a CCTV footage placed her at the crime scene after she was seen scaling a perimeter wall at Maigo’s home.
In addition, DCI detectives recovered clothes believed to have been worn by the suspect on the night of September 14.
Consequently, DCI named her the main suspect and embarked on a search mission.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the DCI sleuths acted on the anonymous tip off and arrested her in the Olympics area in Kibera.
Upon her arrest, the detectives booked her at the Muthaiga Police Station for interrogation.

The suspect had been at large for several days since investigations into the gruesome murder of Maigo at his house in Woodley Estate commenced.
Unsolved mystery
At the same time, a woman was arrested earlier and seen to have been in the Maigo on the fateful night was arrested after the court found no concrete evidence of her alleged involvement.
Even as funeral arrangements continue, the motive behind Maigo’s death was yet to established.
On Tuesday, September 26, Nairobi Hospital James Nyangaya described the slain finance director as diligent and one of the best staffers to have worked with.
