Safaricom PLC has revealed how users can claim their birthday bundle amid rising customer complaints.
A customer by the name @Pau_mwasjnr asked the telco on April 4, why he was not issued with any surprise bundle on his birthday.
In response, Safaricom said the offer is only available to eligible subscribers whose lines meet specific conditions.
In response, Safaricom wished the customer a happy birthday and directed them to dial *544*19#OK and follow the prompts to claim the bundle, noting it would only be awarded to those who qualify.
“Happy birthday! Dial *544*19#OK to claim your birthday bundle. You will be awarded if you qualify,” Safaricom said.
Customers can only receive the bundle on their birthdays.
This comes after many Safaricom users raised concerns over not receiving the bundle on their special day.
What is Safaricom’s Birthday Bundle?
Safaricom offers a birthday and anniversary service that allows its PrePay, Hybrid, and PostPay subscribers to make voice calls at discounted rates and receive a 1GB data bundle.
The service targets customers celebrating their birthdays as well as those marking ten years or more on the network.
Eligible subscribers are automatically identified by the system and receive notifications with birthday or anniversary wishes, alongside an offer to make calls at KSh1 per minute for the day and a 1GB data reward.

The promotional call rates apply across all networks until midnight, while the data bundle remains valid for 24 hours.
The initiative, launched on October 25, 2018, was part of what the company calls the “Safaricom Anniversary Service.”
However, the telco reserves the right to amend or vary these terms and conditions, including updating the Privacy terms, or to withdraw this Service at any time.

Suspension of 24-Hour Birthday Data Bundle for Upgrades
In 2023, Safaricom explained why it temporarily suspended its 24-hour birthday data bundle, a service that awarded 1GB of data to users on their birthdays.
The service’s unavailability sparked questions and complaints from subscribers on social media, with some noting they had not received the birthday gift for several years.
In response, Safaricom said the pause is intended to allow improvements to the service and assured users that notifications will be sent once it resumes.
“Hello. Our apologies, the birthday bundle promotion has been temporarily halted to allow for improvement on the same. Once resumed, we will alert our subscribers. Have a good one,” Safaricom responded.
