The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced temporary traffic disruptions along sections of a major road to facilitate surface dressing works.
In a notice dated January 12, KeNHA notified the public of temporary traffic disruptions along the dual section of Mayoni–Bungoma (B139) Road between Musikoma Roundabout and Kanduyi Junction with A8.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public that the dual section of Mayoni – Bungoma (B139) Road between Musikoma Roundabout and Kanduyi Junction with A8,” read the KeNHA statement partially.
According to their notice, the measures are necessary to carry out surface dressing works aimed at improving road safety and durability.
KeNHA Lane Closures and Schedule
According to the notice, the body announced that traffic disruptions along the dual section of the Mayoni–Bungoma (B139) Road will occur in two phases to allow for surface dressing works.
The stated disruption is expected to be as follows;
- Kanduyi-bound lane: Monday, January 19, 2026, 6:00 am – Sunday, January 25, 2026, 6:00 pm
- Mayoni-bound lane: Monday, January 26, 2026, 6:00 am – Sunday, February 1, 2026, 6:00 pm
Caution to Road Users
In the notice, motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly, as work will be conducted daily during the affected periods.

Additionally, KeNHA advised the drivers to exercise caution while navigating the affected sections, adhere to the proposed traffic management plans, and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals on site.
“Motorists are advised to approach the work zones with caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan, as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” they noted.

Sections of Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue to be Temporarily Closed
The Authority announced on January 19 a temporary closure of several road sections at the Uhuru Highway and Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout to allow for maintenance works.

The closures are set to affect lanes heading to the Central Business District (CBD), Upper Hill, Mombasa, and Nakuru.
Work will be carried out in phases during off-peak hours between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am from Friday, January 23, 2026, to Sunday, January 25, 2026.
The body stated that the temporary closures are necessary to facilitate the reinstatement of the tarmac, specifically the asphalt concrete layer, ensuring road durability and safety for motorists.
