Former KTN News anchor and Dau La Elimu show host has landed a government job, a few years after leaving the Standard Group. The Kenya Times has established that Frank Otieno, popularly known as Mwalimu has joined the Open University of Kenya (OUK).
Speaking exclusively to The Kenya Times, the veteran journalist revealed that he has joined OUK as the Corporate Communications and Marketing Officer in Public Relations.
Further, he noted that he has received his appointment letter on Monday, October 28, adding that he is looking forward to serving Kenyans faithfully, a shift from the private sector.
“Working in private sector then moving to government is quite an experience.
“In government you serve the citizens but in private sector you are serving the business owner who is driven by profit-making, sometimes at the expense of a worker’s mental health,” he told The Kenya Times.
The Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Elijah Omwenga confirmed that Frank had already reported to the workstation and conducted his first business with Members of Parliament.
“Frank Otieno is already with us. I can confirm that,” Prof. Omwenga stated when we contacted him for verification.
We also established that OUK hired Frank on permanent and pensionable basis subject to successful completion of a 6-month probation period.
