Kenneth Akide is a prominent Kenyan lawyer, senior counsel, and the founding managing partner of Akide & Company Advocates.
He is widely recognized for his leadership within the legal profession, most notably serving as the 45th President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
Akide’s Career and Achievements
Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Presidency- he served as the Chairman of the LSK from March 2010 to March 2012. Playing a critical role in steering the legal profession through the transition following the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
In 2012, he was conferred the prestigious rank of Senior Counsel (SC) by President Mwai Kibaki in recognition of his exemplary service to the legal and public sectors in Kenya.
In 1996, he founded his firm, Akide & Company Advocates, where he continues to serve as the Managing Partner and focuses on commercial law, conveyancing, dispute resolution, and legal strategy.

The lawyer cum politician has held numerous influential positions in public and corporate governance, including being a current member of the Council of Legal Education, a former member of the Insurance Advisory Board, and a previous member of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal, a former member of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ), Public Complaints Committee, serving under the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).
Akide is also a former member of the Advisory Council of Uraia Trust.
Early Life and Educational Background
The prominent lawyer is the son of the late Mama Christine Ayoti Wabwire, who passed away in 2022, and was raised in Matayos, Busia County, Kenya.
His election to the LSK presidency was noted as a significant milestone for leaders from minority communities in Kenya.
Akide earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honors from the University of Nairobi (UoN).

Wabwire is a qualified member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS), which underscores his expertise in corporate governance and administrative law.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and specializes in alternative dispute resolution.

Kenneth Akide is the brother of the late Gregory Wabwire Akide, a former Chief Officer in the Busia County Government who was instrumental in the regional cooperative movement, and who passed away in 2025.
