The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released the weekly weather forecast for December 16 to December 22, 2025.
According to the weatherman, significant rainfall is expected in several parts of the country alongside high daytime temperatures in lowland and coastal areas and cool nighttime conditions in the highlands.
The outlook indicates a generally consistent daily weather pattern throughout the seven days, with rainfall activity mainly concentrated in the afternoons across most regions.
According to the forecast, rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coast, North-eastern Kenya, and the South-eastern lowlands during the week.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional rainfall over a few places, before giving way to sunny intervals.
This area covers the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi.
Kenya Met said that afternoon showers are expected in a few places in these counties, while nights are expected to be partly cloudy, with possible showers in a few places.
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley, including Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok counties, mornings are expected to have sunny intervals with occasional rainfall over a few places.

Rainfall activity is forecast to increase in the afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms expected over a few places and occasionally spreading to several locations. Night-time showers are also expected over a few places.
The weatherman further forecast that Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County, will experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night. Morning, afternoon, and night showers are expected over a few to several places throughout the week.
South-eastern lowlands and Northern Kenya
In the South-eastern lowlands, covering Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County, mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional rainfall over a few places, followed by sunny intervals.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are forecast over a few places and may occasionally spread to several locations. Night showers are also expected over a few places.
For North-western and North-eastern Kenya, including Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, the forecast indicates sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.

Rainfall in these regions is expected to be isolated, with possible morning rains and afternoon or nighttime showers occurring over a few places.
The weatherman warned that daytime average maximum temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
In contrast, night-time average minimum temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
