Top Career Options for Grade 10 Learners in Kenya’s Technical Studies Track

The Ministry of Education has outlined possible career options Grade 10 learners can pursue after completing Senior School, depending on their chosen pathways as they transition to senior schools.

Under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum, Technical Studies form a specialized track within the STEM pathway.

The core subjects for technical studies in the track are Media Technology, Geography, Computer Studies, General Science, Business studies and Mathematics.

At Senior School level, learners select three subjects from their chosen pathway and combine them with four compulsory core subjects: English, Kiswahili or Kenyan Sign Language (KSL), Physical Education, and Community Service Learning. These subject combinations determine the career options learners can pursue after Senior School.

According to the Ministry of Education, several subject combinations are available under the technical studies track, each aligned with specific career pathways.

According to the Ministry of Education, the list of approved careers for Grade 10 learners pursuing Computer studies and Media technology includes:
