Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has extended the deadline for the recruitment of teachers and teacher interns by an extra week.
Moreover, Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia on Saturday, December 17 stated that the deadline to receive applications had been extended from December 16 to December 23.
“The Teachers Service Commission reviewed the roadmap for the Recruitment of Teachers and Teacher Interns. The deadline for submission of applications has been extended from 16th to 23rd December 2022,” TSC noted in a statement.
TSC plans to employ 10,000 teachers on permanent pensionable terms while 25,550 will be hired as intern teachers.

According to the TSC CEO 9,000 of the slots have been allocated for permanent secondary school teachers and 1,000 for primary school teachers, while 21,550 slots are for intern teachers for junior secondary schools.
Macharia further noted that the Commission said another 4,000 intern teachers will be hired for primary schools.
The recruitment of teachers follows a recent directive by President William Ruto to hire over 30,000 teachers in January 2023 in a bid to mitigate the nationwide teacher-student ratio gap.
