Gor Mahia football club has asked Azimio la Umoja Coalition leader Raila Odinga to reschedule the planned Sunday rallies to allow supporters from both clubs to enjoy the Mashemeji Derby.
Gor Mahia club secretary general Samuel Ochola in the letter to Raila noted that the derby clash with AFC Leopards will be on the same day as the Azimio meeting.
“As our dear patron, we wish to remind you of our Mashemeji Derby clash with AFC Leopards at 3 pm at Nyayo Stadium. The same day that you will be holding consultative meetings cum demo, we here by formally invite you to grace the occasion.” Ochola noted.
Ochola further asked the opposition leader to consider postponing the protests to allow fans to make it in time for the derby.
“We also appeal to you to consider either rescheduling the demo or having it in good time to enable supporters of both clubs make their way to the stadium in time for the derby,” added the Gor Mahia secretary general.

This request comes after Raila Odinga on Monday, January 23 announced that the Azimio la Umoja coalition will hold another rally at Jacaranda grounds on January 29, 2023.
“We will be having another meeting on the coming Sunday date 29 in Jacaranda,” Raila said.
During the Kamukunji rally, the Azimio leader urged Kenyans to stand firm as his team works on elections reforms.
