There was a heavy police presence in various parts of the city as security officers work to prevent Azimio la Umoja supporters from accessing the Nairobi Central Business District.
Major roads leading into the CBD and State House, Nairobi have been barricaded with some motorists being diverted.
Among the affected roads include Juja, State House, Aerodrome and Ngong roads
The Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC) and other areas within the Central Business District (CBD) have also been cordoned off.

There was a heavy deployment of a contingent of police officers at Mlango Kubwa, Mathare, Juja Rd and Kamkunji and Kibira areas
Other roads leading to State House including University Way, Processional way, Arboretum Road and others have also been closed.
In Kibra, anti-riot police are engaged in running battles with rowdy youth who have been trying to access the CBD through Ngong road.
Elsewhere in Kisumu, business operations have been shut down as most shops remained closed along Oginga Odinga Street and other streets.
