Former Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has rallied support for Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Makueni County on Friday, June 6, Gachagua stated that Kalonzo and the Kamba community have been mistreated in the past.
He suggested that 2027 will be the year to restore respect and dignity of the community.
Gachagua mentioned that the community has a responsibility to support Kalonzo in the upcoming election.
“You have a role to support him. We are here to ask for permission to allow him to walk with us so that we can campaign and form the next government,” he said.
Additionally, Gachagua urged the residents of Makueni to support Kalonzo by voting for Wiper candidates in all elective positions.
“A leader is only strong if he has foot soldiers, and Kalonzo will succeed if he has leaders elected through his party. Here in Makueni, you must support Kalonzo by voting for MP, Senators and MCAs through his Wiper party,” he said.
Gachagua Explains Visit to Eastern Region
“We are here to inform you that the journey to unseat Ruto has started. He has interfered with the pay slip and brought shame to our people,” he said.
He reiterated that the Kamba community and Mt. Kenya regions are cousins and hence called for unity.
Gachagua asserted that the two regions should unite and unseat Ruto in the next election.

Police Officers are Suffering
Furthermore, Gachagua claimed that some police officers disregard orders from their superiors.
Gachagua stated that the police are suffering just like other Kenyans. He noted that their pay slips have been affected by continued tax hikes.
“These police officers are suffering; we will take care of your needs. We know sometimes you are told to beat us, but when you think about your pay slips, you throw teargas in the opposite direction,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua insisted that police officers have suffered more than any other group of Kenyans under Ruto’s regime.
“They workday and night. Police are told to guard money in the bank while they themselves are broke. Ruto promised to put money in our pockets, but he removed even the little we had,” Gachagua said.
