National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, has clarified that he is not among the nominees being fronted by President William Ruto to fill the position of Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS).
Speaking in a media interview, Ichung’wah dismissed the reports, stating they are untrue.
He revealed that the only time President Ruto considered appointing him as a Cabinet Secretary was in 2022, after winning the elections.
He further said that he is more comfortable with his role as Kikuyu MP and Majority Leader in Parliament.
Ichung’wah dismiss reports of being fronted as Interior CS
“In 2022, President William Ruto asked me to tell him what cabinet position I wanted, and I told him that I wanted to be the Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly. I am not interested in serving as a CS.
I have a well-defined role as the MP for Kikuyu, and I believe I can serve more effectively in the National Assembly as the Leader of the Majority, given the opportunity by my coalition. Therefore, you are not looking at a Cabinet Secretary here,” Ichung’wah clarified.
At the same time, Ichung’wah addressed President Ruto’s visit to former President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s home in Ichaweri, whom he has been a fierce critic of.

The Kikuyu legislator dismissed claims that the Head of State visited Uhuru to seek his assistance in governing the country.
ADVERT
“I was aware of the meeting because the former president invited the president to his house.
The president is not seeking Uhuru’s help at all, and people shouldn’t view it from the perspective of him seeking help. It is not the first time the former president and President William Ruto are speaking; probably, it is just the first time it has become public,” the Kikuyu Member of Parliament said.
