The woes facing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continue to deepen with Senior Advisor in the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) Moses Kuria sharing an explosive letter addressed to the DP.
Kuria has once again attacked DP Gachagua as Members of Parliament (MPs) allied to President William Ruto continue to threaten to impeach the DP over various allegations.
The former Public Service Cabinet Secretary on September 25 shared a statement addressed to Gachagua in which he had asked the second in command to answer to the allegations and questions posed in the statement.
Kuria’s letter, which contained serious allegations about the Deputy President, had been leaked to the public back earlier in the year, with the former CS saying that he posted it on 16th June. While sharing it, he pointed out that he ought to have been listened to.
“Answer these 10 questions Mr Deputy President and if you convince me I will follow you we leave government and lead our people to the opposition as you very much desire,” the statement reads in part.
In the letter, the outspoken politician had raised 10 issues that he wanted Gachagua to address to convince him about the push for unity in the Mt. Kenya region.
Kuria had claimed the Deputy President no longer took tea at meetings in State House, claiming that he feared that he could be poisoned.

Further, he wondered what such a move would mean for the Cabinet Secretaries who attended meetings at Gachagua’s home in Karen.
“Now you have refused to even have a cup of tea in State House, saying you fear you will be poisoned. Make me understand how you now expect us to feel safe coming to your Karen residence for Cabinet Committee meetings.
Won’t you also poison us now that you have a good idea of how poisoning works?” Kuria posed.

The former Public Service CS also claimed the second-in-command had demanded Ksh10 billion from President William Ruto to use in ‘fixing the ground’ due to protests in Mt Kenya over the high cost of living.
In the letter, Kuria accused Gachagua of having engineered his removal from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
He said the deputy president had been pressuring President William Ruto to fire him ever since the Cabinet was unveiled.
The outspoken former CS further wondered about the objective of Gachagua’s push for Mt. Kenya unity. He wondered whether Gachagua was planning to have control of the Mt. Kenya voting bloc in preparation for the 2027 presidential elections.
“Which other voting block other than Mt. Kenya will you team up with? Who will trust you? Are you not being reckless and irresponsible with the political destiny of our people? Other than cheating them to change from Hustler to Villager, what other vision do you have for them?” the former CS posed.
Impeachment
This comes at a time when MPs allied to President Ruto continue to threaten that they will go ahead and impeach the DP.

Some of Gachagua’s alleged crimes that have rattled the legislators include his controversial statement on the shareholding in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Also, the DP has been accused of playing politics of division in which he has been vocal in pushing the interests of Mount Kenya region at the expense of other regions.
DP Gachagua earlier on Sunday sent a warning to President Ruto, urging him to avoid reviving the politics of betrayal that have historically sparked acrimony in the country.
