Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Makau has urged President William Ruto to hold a dialogue with opposition leader Raila Odinga concerning the high cost of living.
Makau made this call to the head of state, saying the two leaders must now sit and agree on how they will lower the cost of living and ease the economic burden that Kenyans are currently experiencing.
“Na mimi nauliza Ruto, tafadhali ita Raila mkae chini muangalie hii maneno ya uchumi ya Kenya. Ukikaa tu hivi ukimuita mganga, my friend utaumia,” he stated.
The legislator while speaking in Kyumbi, Machakos County where he distributed bursaries to needy students criticized president Ruto for faulting retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration for the economic woes that have hit the country.
The Mavoko MP further noted that rebuilding the economy does not require side shows, chest-thumping, and name-calling.
“Kenya’s economy will not be built by sideshows, name-calling, and chest-thumping. Uhuru Kenyatta did his ten years and went into retirement. Do not drag him into this mess,” the Mavoko legislator said.
Moreover, Makau asked the head of state to implement the policies he outlined to Kenyans in his manifesto during campaigns.

“Show us where you will take us as Kenyans with your economic blueprint. Stop saying resources were plundered by the previous administration,” the MP opined.
Nonetheless, the sentiments by the Mavoko member of parliament comes a day after religious leaders drawn from the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), and the Hindu Council of Kenya asked President Ruto to provide forward-looking leadership by reaching out to the opposition leaders to promote unity and peace for the betterment of Kenya.
“As a symbol of national unity, we ask you to focus on oneness. It is of essence that you reach out to the opposition to promote dialogue for the betterment of our nation,” Sheikh Hassan Ole Nado stated in a joint statement.
