Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has publicly distanced herself from Speaker Anne Kiusya’s woes following an attempted impeachment by Members of the County Assembly (MCA).
In a statement on April 11, 2025, the Governor stated that she should not be involved in the Impeachment case as she already addressed it with the speaker and the MCAs.
“I am not party to the stand-off between the Speaker of the Machakos County Assembly and MCAs. I have twice saved her from impeachment. I am not there to babysit the Assembly,” Wavinya said.
Further, she called for order and urged the Speaker to find ways to work with the MCAs.
Wavinya Ndeti Clarifies Her Stand
“The last time they tried to impeach her, I called all the Members of County Assembly to my house and urged them not to continue with the impeachment,” she added.
According to the Governor, 59 MCAs had already resolved to remove Kiusya from office for her misconduct.
She noted that a consensus was reached between her, the Speaker, and the MCAs to stop the motion, with clear conditions moving forward.
“We agreed on three things: that the Members of the County Assembly would stop the impeachment motion, the Speaker would assign each member to a committee without showing favoritism, and that order would be restored within the Assembly,” Wavinya explained.
