National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has asked leaders from his home county, Bungoma, to stop the politics of insults.
Speaking on Sunday, September 21, Wetangula said residents should respect leaders focused on the development of the county.
He explained that President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and Wiper Leader Kalonzo are respected in their backyard for this reason.
He asked the leaders from the regions to speak in one voice so that the region can be respected in national politics.
“I continue to appeal to Bungoma leaders to shun insults and embrace respect to leaders aiming at progressive development just as President Ruto, Raila Odinga, and Kalonzo Musyoka are honoured in their communities,” Wetangula said.
Wetangula Hints at Supporting Ruto in 2027
Wetangula also asked the residents to take National Identification (ID) Cards since the process has been made easy.
Subsequently, he said the Mulembe nation should register as voters and support President Ruto in the 2027 general election.
Wetangula noted that Bungoma and Nakuru counties have the same population as Kiambu and Kakamega.
However, he pointed out that the two Central counties have more registered voters than Kakamega and Bungoma.
“I also encouraged residents to take advantage of President William Ruto’s directive easing access to national IDs, stressing that our strength will only count in 2027 if we register and turn out in large numbers to support him,” he said.

Producing a President
Wetangula said the aim is to ensure the regions rise to the presidency in the future.
He thanked the residents for their support throughout his political career, which has culminated in his current role as National Assembly speaker.
“I cannot mislead you, I want us to be the president of Kenya,” he added.

Nzoia Sugar Politics
Wetangula said cane farmers are now reaping massive benefits as a result of reforms at Nzoia Sugar Factory, with dues paid promptly under the new management.
He urged farmers who had abandoned the Mill to renew contracts, assuring them of regular payments transacted every two weeks.
“Nzoia will never die, I can tell you for sure. I have gone to Nzoia and I have seen what is going on. It is going to be the biggest sugar factory, most efficient, in Kenya by December at the latest, or January,” he said.
He was speaking at Muanda Catholic Church in Bumula constituency in Bungoma County.
