Martha Karua has said the President is not in a position to advise the opposition on how to oversight the government.
In a statement on Friday, January 27 the Narc Kenya leader stated that once someone is your competitor, they cannot be able to advise you.
“Your competition can never be your cheer leader or adviser period!” Karua said.
Moreover, the Kenya Kwanza administration, is proposing to create the office of the leader of official opposition as part of what president Ruto calls strengthening institutions of governance.
According to the president, the office of the official leader of opposition will keep the government in check as required in a democratic set-up that calls for strong oversight institutions as pillars of good governance.
However, president Ruto’s proposal met sharp criticism as some Azimio leaders came out strongly to oppose the creation of the office.
On January 6, Siaya Governor James Orengo, MPs Otiende Amolo (Rarieda) and Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga) cautioned the National Assembly to be careful when handling Ruto’s proposal to introduce the office of the opposition leader.

Likewise, nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian said the opposition will not accept a proposal to create the office of the leader of the opposition.
