John Philip Gichohi Kaguchia is the Member of Parliament for Mukurwe-ini Constituency, elected in 2022 under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Educational Background
Hailing from Kiuu Village in Mukurwe-ini, Nyeri County, Kaguchia was raised by parents Richard Kaguchia and Mercy Wangechi in a farming household.
Philip Kaguchia finished his secondary education at Lenana School before pursuing higher studies at Kenyatta University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce (2003–2007).
He continued at the University of Nairobi, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 2017 and a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from 2010 to 2012.
Philip Kaguchia then completed the Advocates Training Programme at the Kenya School of Law between 2018 and 2019, solidifying his legal credentials.
Career
Philip Kaguchia’s professional career began at Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company as a Customer Care Coordinator between 2008 and 2017.
His career took a huge turn when he was elected to serve as the Speaker of the Nyeri County Assembly from 2012 to 2022, a period during which he was recognized as “Best Speaker” at the Kenya County Gala Awards.
He has achieved many awards, including:
