Residents of Marigat town in Baringo County are counting loses after floods destroyed their property and businesses.
The dreaded floods were experienced on Saturday, September 3 night following a heavy down pour.
In addition, businesses in Marigat came to a standstill as of Sunday, September 4 morning, as the town remains flooded.
Moreover, the floods wreaked havoc, with water getting into shops and power lines getting disconnected after several electricity poles fell down.
Furthermore, the strong windy rainfall also fell trees, blocking routes. Thence, rendering the town impassable.
Nevertheless, residents who are moving from Marigat town to Nakuru, Kabarnet and other towns have been urged to be careful.
Similarly, Marigat ward MCA Nixon lemlem has called for calmness.
The MCA also told the business communities affected that the County Government will address the menace through the disaster management section.
Lemlem also called for installation of proper drainage systems in the town to prevent such calamities.
