Flowrence Jematiah Sergon is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Woman Representative for Baringo County in the National Assembly, elected in the 2022 general elections under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Early life and educational background
Flowrence Jematiah Sergon was born on 4th March 1978 was raised in Marigat Ward, within Baringo South Constituency.
She attended Marigat Secondary School from 1996, where she started her career as a leader as the school head girl and successfully earned her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 1999.
Sergon then pursued further studies at the Kenya Medical Training College from 2003 and successfully graduated with a Diploma in Dental Technology in 2006.
She later deepened her academic credentials with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi from 2009 to 2013 and went on to complete a Master’s in International Relations at the same institution in from 2016 to date.
Career
Professional career
Her political journey began at the United Republican Party (URP) secretariat, where she gained experience in political operations and grassroots mobilization from 2010 to 2015.
In 2017, she was appointed as the Jubilee Party campaign coordinator for Baringo, Nakuru, and Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.
In December 2017, Flowrence was elected as one of Kenya’s nine representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly, securing 252 votes, notably becoming the youngest among Kenya’s delegation.

During her tenure from 2017 to 2022, she contributed to several key committees, including the General Purpose & Budget, Trade & Investment, and, later, Agriculture & Natural Resources
Political career
Flowrence transitioned to national politics in the 2022 general election, winning the seat of Women Representative for Baringo County on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
In Parliament, she has shown interest in key areas such as Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations, Communication, Information and Innovation, and Public Investment.
In November 2024, she found herself in the spotlight following controversial remarks directed at the Kenyan Catholic Church’s leadership.
After significant public backlash, she issued a formal public apology, acknowledging the rightful oversight role of religious institutions.
Flowrence Jematiah is also active in parliamentary discussions and advocacy groups and is a member of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA), where she collaborates with fellow women legislators to push for gender-sensitive policies and inclusive development.
