Several regions across Kenya will experience low temperatures and cold nights this week, with some areas expected to record nighttime temperatures below 10°C.
According to the latest forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department, the coldest conditions will be felt in high-altitude zones including parts of the Central Highlands, the Rift Valley, and the Kenyan side of Mount Kilimanjaro.
In the Central Highlands, regions such as Nyeri, Nyandarua, and areas surrounding Mount Kenya will be among the coldest.
In the Rift Valley, places like Eldoret, Kericho, and other elevated areas are also likely to experience chilly nights.
Residents near Mount Kilimanjaro are advised to prepare for particularly cold evenings, as sub-10°C temperatures are expected.
Areas to Receive Rain
Rainfall is forecast in several regions, particularly the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, as well as western and northwestern Kenya.

These areas may receive occasional showers throughout the week, accompanied by overcast skies and lower daytime temperatures.
Cold and cloudy conditions will dominate the highlands both east and west of the Rift Valley, including the Nairobi metropolitan area and southeastern lowlands.
These areas will see extended periods of cloud cover and reduced sunshine, with cool daytime temperatures likely persisting into the weekend.
Meanwhile, residents in northeastern and northwestern Kenya should brace for hot weather, as temperatures in those regions are expected to soar above 30°C.
Strong Winds
Dry and sunny conditions will prevail in these arid and semi-arid zones, increasing the risk of dehydration and heat-related health issues.
Strong winds exceeding 25 knots are also expected along the coast, as well as in northeastern, southeastern, and northwestern Kenya.
The Kenya Met Department has advised caution for those in affected regions, particularly fishermen and small craft operators, due to the potential for rough seas and wind-related hazards.
Kenya Met encourages residents in all regions to remain updated on daily forecasts and advisories.

Individuals in colder regions are urged to dress warmly, especially during early mornings and late evenings, while those in storm-prone or high-wind areas should secure property and monitor local alerts.
Fog, Drizzles to Affect Visibility
The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) had issued the July 2025 climate outlook, predicting the peak of the cold season across several regions.
Fog, overcast skies, and drizzles are expected to reduce visibility, especially along the Kikuyu–Kinungi stretch.
Air operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport in Nairobi may also face disruptions.
“Transport services might be affected by poor visibility in fog-prone areas, with airport operations in Nairobi likely to experience delays,” the statement added.
