Several parts of the country are expected to experience generally dry conditions over the next five days, with only isolated rainfall in select regions, according to the latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).
In its outlook covering Friday, June 19th to Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Kenya Met says rainfall will mainly occur over the Coast and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, while most other regions will remain predominantly dry.
The forecast indicates that intermittent cool and cloudy conditions will be experienced in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Northeastern Kenya.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be generally dry. Rainfall is mainly expected over the Coast and Highlands West of the Rift Valley. Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley & Northeastern Kenya,” Kenya Met said.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin & Rift Valley will experience sunny intervals in the morning, with isolated afternoon showers in a few places.
Counties in this region include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, and Bomet.
Daytime temperatures will range from 29°C to 30°C, while night temperatures will drop to 6°C to 10°C, with colder conditions expected in high-altitude areas.
The North-western counties of Turkana and Samburu will remain largely dry, with sunny intervals throughout the forecast period.
Temperatures will be high during the day, ranging from 35°C to 36°C, while night temperatures will fall to 6°C to 8°C.

Weather Outlook for Nairobi
Residents in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley should expect a mix of cloudy mornings and sunny intervals, with occasional light rains in some areas.
This region includes Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties.
Daytime temperatures will range from 25°C to 28°C, while night temperatures will drop sharply to 4°C to 6°C, making it one of the coldest regions at night.
Northeastern Kenya, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties, will remain mostly sunny, with isolated afternoon showers in a few places.
Temperatures will remain high during the day, ranging between 36°C and 37°C, while night temperatures will range between 15°C and 16°C
Counties in the South-eastern Lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, will remain generally dry with sunny intervals throughout the period, although occasional cloud cover is expected.
Temperatures will range from 29°C to 31°C during the day, while night temperatures will drop to 11°C to 15°C.

Coast Region
The Coast region, covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta, is expected to receive the highest rainfall activity during the forecast period.
Showers will occur over several areas in the mornings and afternoons, with occasional light rains expected to persist through the five-day period.
Temperatures will remain warm and humid, with daytime highs between 29°C and 31°C and night temperatures between 21°C and 23°C.
