The weatherman has listed Nairobi among several counties expected to experience rainfall between September 15 and 21, 2026. According to the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) weekly forecast dated September 14, the weather in parts of Baringo, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kisii, Kisumu, and Kilifi is expected to receive rainfall.
Other areas listed include Mombasa, Kwale, Nakuru, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Wajir and West Pokot.
“Rainfall is expected in parts of Baringo, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Embu, Garissa, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Laikipia, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Mandera, Marsabit, Meru, Migori, Mombasa, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Siaya, Taita/Taveta, Tana River, Tharaka-Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Wajir and West Pokot Counties,” KMD listed.
Where Counties Will See Morning, Afternoon and Night Showers
The weatherman forecasts morning showers in several parts of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu Counties. Morning rains may also occur in a few parts of Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Marsabit, Wajir and Mandera.

In the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are expected in several parts of Baringo, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga.
Afternoon showers are also likely in several parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Kwale, Lamu, Kilifi, Meru, Mombasa, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka-Nithi, while a few parts of other counties may also receive showers.
At night, the weatherman forecasts showers in a few parts of several counties, including Kilifi, Mombasa, Nairobi, Kiambu, Meru, Murang’a, Nakuru, Nyeri, Siaya, Tana River, Tharaka-Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga.
The department noted that these conditions are expected only in specified parts of the listed counties, rather than across entire counties.
Weatherman Issues Fresh Weather Warning as OND Rains Near
KMSA said sunny intervals are expected in parts of Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana and Wajir during the week.

Further, the weatherman said daytime maximum average temperatures above 30°C are expected in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana this week.
Night-time minimum average temperatures of less than 10°C are expected in some parts of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nakuru, Narok, Taita/Taveta and Kajiado Counties.
The weather service said the forecast comes as Kenya strengthens preparedness ahead of the October–December 2026 rainfall season.
KMSA urged the public to use weather information to plan ahead, protect lives and livelihoods, and take action before weather-related hazards occur.
