The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a five-day outlook weather forecast for the days starting September 25 to September 29, 2024. Kenya Met published the weather outlook in the wake of extreme conditions in the country’s capital Nairobi and its environs.
In its forecast on Tuesday September 24, Kenya Met predicted regions expected to experience extreme cold conditions and those set to receive rains both in heavy and moderate amounts.
Nairobi residents and Kenyans in other select regions should continue bracing themselves for extreme low temperatures for the next five days.
According to the weatherman, some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley are expected to experience showers alternating with intermittent cool and cloudy conditions over few places.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley which include Nairobi County covers central Kenya counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties.
Residents in these regions will experience minimum temperatures of up to 05°C and maximum of 30°C.
“Rainfall is likely to continue over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley and the Coast.
Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” said KMD.
Kenya Met forecast
The low temperatures are expected to be accompanied by cloudy conditions breaking into sunny intervals during the mornings, and showers over some places during the afternoons and nights according to the weatherman.

Low temperatures in some places of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley on the other hand are expected to be accompanied by showers and thunderstorms especially in the afternoons and during the night.
These include the counties of West Pokot, Siaya, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Busia.
The regions are expected to experience Sunny intervals for at least two days especially during mornings accompanied by maximum temperatures of 33°C.
At the same time the weather department said that the rest of the country will be generally dry.

Areas within the South-eastern lowlands, which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties are set to experience minimum temperatures of 11°C and 31°C maximum.
Parts of Kenya to remain dry
According to the Kenya Met, the high temperatures are to be experienced mostly during mornings and afternoons which are expected to be covered by sunny intervals, while most nights will remain partly cloudy.
Maximum High daytime temperatures of more than 31°C on the other hand will be experienced in parts of the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale.
North-eastern Kenya counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will remain dry with maximum temperatures of 38°C especially during the day, with cloudy conditions expected during the night.
