Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has revealed that several countries have begun mediation efforts to end the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States (US), and Israel.
In a statement dated Friday, March 6, Masoud Pezeshkian stated that while Iran supports lasting peace, the country will not hesitate to defend its dignity and sovereignty.
“Some countries have begun mediation efforts. Let’s be clear: we are committed to lasting peace in the region, yet we have no hesitation in defending our nation’s dignity and sovereignty,” read part of his statement.
He further added that any mediation should address those he believes underestimated the Iranian people and triggered the conflict.
European Countries Urge Masoud Pezeshkian to Engage in Negotiations with US and Israel
Earlier, European leaders had urged Iran to seek a “negotiated solution” as they attempted to prevent the outbreak of war between the US, Israel, and Iran through diplomatic means.
In a joint statement, the leaders of France, Germany, and the UK called on the Iranian state to allow its people to determine their own future and condemned Tehran’s retaliatory attacks on US army bases in the region.
“France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have consistently urged the Iranian regime to end Iran’s nuclear program, curb its ballistic missile program, refrain from its destabilising activity in the region and our homelands, and to cease the appalling violence and repression against its own people,” read part of the statement.
The leaders also clarified that they did not participate in the strikes.
“We did not participate in these strikes, but are in close contact with our international partners, including the United States, Israel, and partners in the region.”
The statement was signed by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, and the British prime minister,” Keir Starmer.
Iran Refuses Negotiations With US
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi previously stated that his country is ready for a ground invasion by American troops, as the war launched by the US and Israel has quickly spread across the region.
He also refused any negotiations with the United States (US), adding that Iran had not asked for a ceasefire.
“We didn’t ask for a ceasefire even last time. In previous time, it was Israel who asked for a ceasefire. They asked for an unconditional ceasefire after 12 days, during which we resisted their aggression,” said Abbas Araghchi.

Abbas Araghchi argued that Iran was armed and confident of fighting the US and defeating it.
“We are waiting for them, because we are confident that we can confront them, and that would be a big disaster for them,” said Abbas Araghchi.
His comments came after the U.S. and Israeli militaries began an attack on Iran on Saturday, February 28, which decimated its military defenses.
