The Russian Defense Ministry has released details of an attempted Ukrainian drone strike on President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Novgorod Region.
The Ministry said that all incoming UAVs were intercepted before reaching the target.
According to the map released on December 31, Kyiv launched 91 long-range drones from Sumy and Chernigov regions on the night of December 28–29.
The drones approached through Bryansk, Smolensk, and Tver regions before reaching Novgorod.

Russia Today reported that the footage released by the Defense Ministry showed debris from one of the intercepted UAVs.
“The attack by the Kyiv regime was deliberate, carefully planned, and layered in nature,” the ministry said.
The Russian Defence Ministry stated that the strike was thwarted without damage to the presidential compound.
This comes after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on December 29, alleged that Ukraine had launched the attack on the Valdai residence, one of Putin’s residences in the Novgorod region in northwestern Russia.

Lavrov Says Russia Intercepted Ukraine’s Drones
Sergey Lavrov said Ukraine had launched 91 drones toward the residence, but all were intercepted by air defence systems, with no injuries reported.
Moscow accused Ukrainian authorities, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of orchestrating the attempted strike in an effort to undermine ongoing efforts toward a peace settlement.
“Such reckless actions will not go unanswered,” Lavrov said.
“The targets for retaliatory strikes and the timing of their implementation by the Russian armed forces have been determined.”

Moscow warned it could respond militarily after accusing Ukraine of launching almost 100 drones at one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences.
The warning came as US President Donald Trump continues efforts to broker a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, which is set to enter its fifth year in February.
However, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied allegations by Russia that Ukraine launched a drone attack on one of Putin’s residences and accused Moscow of trying to derail peace talks.
He added that Russia itself has previously carried out attacks on government buildings in Kyiv.
“It is critical that the world doesn’t stay silent now. We cannot allow Russia to undermine the work on achieving a lasting peace,” he said.
Moscow currently controls about 75% of the Donetsk region, and some 99% of the neighbouring Luhansk.
